When I first found out I was pregnant with Miles, I was sent to live in a shelter called Bethesda. My family had lived there before me and found it a wonderful experience that they really benefitted from. My experience differed from theres, but looking back I sometimes think I should have stuck it out. I had left after just 3 days of living there. I was scared, didn't like the thought of living on my own. I don't like change so the move stressed me out too. I didn't know anyone but had started to get to know a few people before leaving.
I felt singled out because nobody came to visit me. My family never came, DS's Father at the time never showed up to visit.. in fact he took it as the perfect opportunity to start cheating on me - great guy.. not.
But the staff were wonderful. Everyone was so kind hearted, and it was really like a family there. I was only there for 3 days, but I saw girls - no.. women coming together to help eachother through this transition into Motherhood.
Bethesda really is a wonderful place, even if it wasn't the right place for me.

Now.. Bethesda is at risk of being shut down and closed for good. I feel this would be a huge loss to society because so many women did benefit from being in this shelter. Please help save Bethesda by liking this page;
